CartBC Cleanup July 26-27, 2008

Please ask all karters to come and help out this weekend to get the track in shape for the upcoming Westwood hosted IKF Gold Cup on August 8,9 & 10th. Westwood has been instrumental in bringing this event back to Canada and we would like to ensure that we put on a good show for our US competitors.

We will work from 9:00 AM till 1:00 PM. No one will be allowed on the track until after 1:00 PM. Non CartBC members who worked will also be allowed on the track after 1:00 PM

There are a number of things that need to get done so here is a short list . Some may not be applicable for this coming weekend but if people have any ideas and can help out in any way we sure would appreciate it:

Tires:

Bring gloves, rain boots and jacket, OK mosquito repellant. The tire walls need to be retied. This is a big job and very tedious but is required as part of our insurance so the more people we have doing it the quicker it will get done.

Weed Eating

If you have a weed eater bring it as we will be able to do some weed eating in the spectator areas and along the fence line as well.

Paint

We need to paint the railings for the bleachers and the starters stand. If you have brushes, wire brushes for cleaning rust and scale and paint thinner that would be great

Tower:

General clean up and trash removal. Vacuum ,etc. Clean windows

Track

Caulking- Magnetic strips need to be recaulked. Clean up debris along track including small rocks, etc Cut grass along tires Re-tie tires up into groups of 6 or 9 tires (3 high in all places except starters stand Align tires properly

Pit Area

Needs sweeping and names painted on Platinum Sites. Laytons Container to be moved at some point.

Garbage

Need someone with a pickup to get rid of some debris, gas cans, etc.

Computer / Scoring

Need to organize computers and equipment for scoring. Throw away old terminals and computers etc that are obsolete.

PA System/Wiring:

Wire speakers properly. Set up PA System for external speakers. Test anthems on PA sytem

Corner Stations

Fix corner station areas. Weights/anchors for tents.

Fire Extinguishers

Check extinguishers for renewal, etc .

Floor Dry

Ensure suitable amount is available for race days.

Spectator Stands

Check railings, etc. Paint if weather permits Clean debris underneath

Signs

Remove unsightly signs (if required)

Drainage

Ditch needs to be dug and line run to back for proper drainage.

Curbing:

Curbs need to be repainted

Keys

Ensure all locks are keyed correctly and we have spares.

Look forward to seeing everyone there.

Stan Lawes our Track Manager will oversee the work on the weekend and assign duties to volunteers as they show up.
