Rules and Regulations (2008)

 

Practice Event Rules

1.     General

    1. BCBCA and ASN Canada FIA or any surviving sporting regulations are applicable and in effect.
    2. These rules are to be considered as Supplementary Regulations for CartBC.

 

2.     Track Operation

    1. Use of the track is limited to go-karts only.
    2. The track rotation is clockwise only, unless specified otherwise.
    3. Maximum of ten (10) karts on the track at any one time.
    4. No competitive passing allowed.
    5. No contact allowed.
    6. All participants (i.e. drivers, mechanics and observers) to sign the “ Waiver of Liability” form prior to use of the facility.
    7. Karts,ATVs, scooters, bikes, skateboards are not to be operated in the pit area while the track is hot. Karts are not to be operated under their own power in the pit area at any time. Karts being pushed on kart stands to the hot pit area are not permitted to be running.
    8. Opening and closing the facility is the responsibility of every participating CartBC member. During non-operation, all gates and buildings are to be locked in a secure manner.
    9. No Senior drivers will be allowed on the track with Junior drivers with the exception of a family member or dealer who is helping the Junior driver with their driving skills.

 

3.             Drivers, Mechanics, Observers

    1. Non-licensed drivers may participate in entry-level classes; that is classes requiring a BCKCA license B, C or D. All drivers must be a member of CartBC or hold a one-day pass obtained from an approved dealer. Supervision by an ASN Canada FIA affiliated member is mandatory.
    2. Licensed drivers to observe BCKCA licensing rules for a practice event (i.e.: one license category higher)
    3. Driver’s safety equipment to be as per ASN Canada FIA Sporting Regulations, except that a heavy jacket and heavy denim pants is permissible.
    4. ASN Canada FIA rules of conduct are in effect at all times.

 

4.     Facility Care and Maintenance

    1. All pits will require: First Aid Kit, Fire Extinguisher, Drain pan, garbage container/bag.
    2. Trailer tongues to be supported. i.e. set on a board so they do not dig into the pavement.
    3. All asphalt surfaces are to be protected and kept free of debris at all times. It is also recommended that a tarp/carpet be placed under any area a kart will be worked on.
    4. All fluids (fuel, oil, lubricants, cleaners, etc.) are to be removed from the facility on completion of practice.
    5. All safety wire, tie straps, etc are to be picked up and put into the garbage at all times.
    6. Damaged kart parts, tires, used fuel containers and any other discardable material are to be removed from the facility on completion of practice.

4.6        Driving pegs into the asphalt to hold down tents is not permitted.

 

 

5.     Tire Compounds

 

    1. Unless noted otherwise due to concerns for the asphalt surface, all tire compounds shall be in accordance to BCKCA and ASN Canada FIA rules.
    2. Tire treatment (ie:doping) is not allowed.

 

6.     Noise

    1. Maximum kart engine sound level permitted is 82db as measured in accordance with BCKCA specifications. All karts are to be equipped with the appropriate silencer.
    2. Kart engines may be run from 9:00 AM to Noon and from 1:00 to 9:00 PM.
    3. Generators and compressors may be run from 8:45 AM to Noon and from 1:00 to 10:00 PM.  Radios, stereos, etc. must be quiet by 10:00 PM.
    4. All karts must use an air box with the exception of kid karts and 4-cycle karts.  CIK classes must use CIK air box, F80 & F125 to use CIK or IKF approved air box.
    5. All karts in the grid and pits that are being warmed up prior to a race must be pointing their exhaust towards the track and not towards the pit area.

 

7.     Safety

    1. At least one non-driver must be on site during a practice event. That person must be equipped with a cellular telephone for communication with emergency services.
    2. A vehicle for emergency transportation must be on site.
    3. A first aid kit is mandatory.

 

8.             Membership

    1. All drivers who use the CartBC facility must be a member of CartBC or have a one day pass that has been purchased from an authorized CartBC dealer who is responsible for supervising the karter. (See CartBC website for membership information).

9.             Compliance

    1. Members who do not comply with the CartBC  rules will be subject to an immediate loss of their practice privileges for the remainder of the year without recourse.
    2. Membership may be denied for the following season depending on the particulars of the incident(s).
